Renovation of the Constitución square in Las Cabezas

The City Council of Las Cabezas de San Juan promotes the reform and conditioning of the Plaza de la Constitución, a project awarded to Motian, and on which we have already begun work.

The necessary work will be carried out to condition the aforementioned square located in front of the Town Hall and relocate the image of the Sagrado Corazón, already restored, the work of local sculptor Manuel Delgado Brackenbury, dating from the 1930s; and another sculpture of General Riego, the work of the sculptor, also from Las Cabezas, Luis Rodríguez Castro.

Works will be carried out to allow the access for people with disabilities. The dimensions of the current plaza will be expanded by integrating the perimeter streets into the complex. To do this, current unevenness between the pavement and the road will be eliminated, maintaining the unevenness in Antonio Machado street, which due to its continuous traffic, it is convenient to keep unevenness for the safety of pedestrians. Two speed bumps are created at the entrances and exits of the square, to reduce the speed of traffic and delimit the space of the square. Likewise, the unevenness with the front of the City Hall with the stands where the image of the Sagrado Corazón will be raised is resolved.

The side streets that take in the square go up and unevenness is resolved with perimeter walls that include flowerbeds that adapt to the difference in height between the streets and the square. At the front, to the right, is the image of General Riego to refer to the balcony where the Constitution was promulgated in 1812, located in front of the square on Antonio Machado street. And around the image some benches are created that embrace the space where the image is located. In the central part there are green areas with benches and shade trees.
